ŠKODA: Simply clever

ŠKODA is one of the most traditional vehicle manufacturers in the world. The Czech company was founded in 1895 as the bicycle manufacturer Laurin & Klement. Just ten years later, the first two-cylinder car was produced. In 1925, the company finally merges with the ŠKODA engineering group, which gives the company its now familiar name.

After a few economic setbacks and successes, ŠKODA joined the Volkswagen Group in 1991 and became its fourth vehicle brand after Audi, SEAT and VW. A few years later, the brand's best-selling model to date is introduced: The perfect family car Octavia still enjoys undiminished popularity.
